Bidding Prayers

27th Sunday in Ordinary Time              6th October 2024

Priest: Let us turn in prayer to Our Heavenly Father, who always feeds and sustains us on our journey, offering intercession for our Church, our society and all those who are in need.

Reader: That the Church and its members will be sustained in service as they follow Christ’s calling to be servants.

Lord, hear us.

Reader: That we remember the call to welcome little children in Christ’s name, and we pray for the children of our families, of this parish and our schools, and for those children who have suffered abuse.

Lord, hear us.

Reader: That the joy of the Gospel will permeate our lives and we will bring it to all those we encounter in our lives.

Lord, hear us.

Reader: We pray urgently for peace in the Middle East.

Lord, hear us.

Reader: We ask Mary, our Mother, to intercede on our behalf: Hail Mary …

Reader: Let us pray for our own intentions in silence.

Priest: God Our Father, hear these petitions which your people place before you. We make all our prayers through Christ Our Lord, Amen.

Twenty-First Sunday in Ordinary Time

25th August 2024

PRIEST: Like Peter, may we recognise Jesus and trust that God will hear the prayers we offer in faith:

READER: For Pope Francis and for bishops, priests and deacons that they may grow in faith and love each day for Christ and his Church. (pause) Lord in your mercy

READER: For the whole Church, that her leaders and members will be mindful of their responsibility to serve the world in humility and faith. (pause) Lord in your mercy

READER: For our world, and for all who have suffered the tragedy of sudden or unexpected loss, especially for those whose loved ones have died alone. (pause) Lord in your mercy

READER: For all who are seeking a deeper knowledge of Jesus: that through the scriptures they may gain insights which will lead to greater faith and reverence. (pause) Lord in your mercy

READER: For the young people of our parish, that they may be blessed with a safe and peaceful transition back to school or college. (pause) Lord in your mercy

READER: For all who are sick or suffering in any way, and for those who have died, that they will know Christ’s healing love. (pause) Lord in your mercy

PRIEST: God of infinite love and wisdom, we ask you to hear these, our prayers. Continue to keep us faithful to Christ so that we may one day rejoice in the resurrection of the righteous. We ask this through Christ our Lord.
